Alternative Healing

Until recently, if you went to see an alternative healer it most likely would have been a naturopath or a homeopath. A holistic approach would have been taken to find out about your symptoms and causes of these symptoms.

New types of Alternative Healing

As we are become more aware of ourselves as spiritual beings different ways of healing and preventing disease are becoming available. A new type of alternative healing is emerging, that of working with the subtle energies of the body. Our physical bodies are only part of our make up. We also have energy bodies that we cannot see or feel unless we have developed our senses to do so. These bodies are like templates for our physical bodies. Anything that occurs in our physical bodies has first occurred in our subtle bodies. By becoming aware of these energy bodies we can heal ourselves of potential problems before they become physical.

Chakras

Located in these energy bodies are chakras. Learning to work with your chakras to improve your health and all aspects of you life is relatively easy. Everything you need to know to work with your chakras is found in a new book "Seven Ancient Secrets for a Happy Life - Chakras". Below is an extract from this book.

"Yogis have known about chakras for thousands of years. The ancient Yogic texts refer to them. Chakra is a Sanskrit term which means "wheel" when translated into English.

Chakras are spinning wheels that channel in energy from all around us.

Every cell in your body needs energy to survive. In the western world it is commonly believed that the only source of energy we receive is through the consumption of food. However the air around us is full of energy. We know that plants harness energy from the sun. With every breath we fill our lungs with energy. However, there is another way that energy enters our bodies and that is through our chakras.

This energy is called Prana by yogis and Chi by Chinese mystics. You can see it yourself by going outside on a sunny day, relaxing totally and gazing softly into space, do not focus on anything. You will see tiny clear and glowing particles dancing in the air, a little like tadpoles swimming in a pond.

Chakras transmute this energy into a form we can use and direct it into our body by major and minor chakras. Here we will be looking at the seven major ones.

How chakras function

There are seven major chakras. They direct energy into the major nerve plexus of the body and in turn feed energy to our organs, and endocrine glands.

For the human body to be functioning at its best, its chakras need to be spinning freely and able to open and close as appropriate. When our chakras are free to do this they are regarded as balanced.

As well as feeding energy into our physical bodies our chakras also play a role in our emotional well-being.

Chakras can be out of balance if they are damaged or blocked. This damage occurs when we are affected by negative emotions such as anger, fear, lust, greed, jealousy or possessiveness

An out of balance chakra can have too much or too little energy flowing. When this occurs, over prolonged periods, there may be a corresponding decrease in the level of energy in the associated gland or organ, e.g. hypothyroidism may be the result of a blockage in the Throat Chakra and too little energy flowing through the Sacral Chakra could lead to fertility problems.

Chakras are also linked to spiritual matters. Human beings evolve, mature and increase their spirituality through the development of their chakras.

The first three chakras, the base, sacral and solar plexus govern the physical body's needs. The upper three chakras, the throat, brow and crown, are more spiritual. The Heart Chakra sits in the middle, a point of balance between them."
